Zenith 750 Cruzer I wrapped a 1x2 in a papertowel and used it to clamp the windshield and the spar together.

Then I used a heat gun to flatted the top part of the windshield as much as possible.

I think it will work nicely. Once the metal strip is screwed on top I think it will all lay flat.

Zenith 750 Cruzer I'm trimming the top of the windshield to be parallel with the spar. If you look really closely you can see that on the pilot side it does not need trimmed. But as you move towards the passenger side, it needs about 1/8" trimmed. So this wedge I trimmed with a Dremel and sanding drum.

Zenith 750 Cruzer I made this side aluminum piece and drilled on hole at the top. But I will hold off on the rest because I think I need to trim the bottom front of the windshield too.

Zenith 750 Cruzer If you look at the bottom of the front windshield on the STOL vs the Cruzer, you will notice the windshield is a lot lower on the STOL. The STOL has a smaller panel and the lower window can allow some extra visibilty.

Zenith 750 Cruzer The Cruzer windshield gets cut much shorter and I spent most of the day trimming the bottom and sides.

Do you see all the parallel lines I've drawn on the glareshield? I drew the lines and then made 1" marks from the rivet line down. I made the same lines and marks on both sides. I did this AFTER trimming the right side of the windshield.

Then on the right side, I would see how far down the trimmed windshield goes on the line, i.e. 4.5" and then on the same line on the right side, I'd make a mark on the windshield. Once I had a mark on each of the lines, I could trim the left side of the windshield and make it the same, or even with, the right side. Make sense?

Zenith 750 Cruzer I trimmed this side first, and them drew the lines on the glareshield to get measurements to make the left side the same.

Zenith 750 Cruzer Here you can see the lines. The next step is to drill the holes in the vertical side tubes, but I need another person here to hold the windshield down tight while I drill. So, that's all I can get done tonight.

Zenith 750 Cruzer Come on? Who doesn't sit in their airplane and dream of the day that can actually fly it?? It's a good break from building. It's motivational too!
